The First Wave: Supporting First-Generation Students

"The First Wave" was a vibrant gathering held at X aimed at supporting first-generation students at TU Delft. The event provided a platform for students who are the first in their family to attend university and those bridging multiple cultural identities.

Event Highlights:

  1. Crash Course on Navigating University Life: Participants received valuable information about financial support, essential university resources, and where to direct their questions. This session was particularly beneficial for demystifying aspects of university life that might seem daunting to those without a family history in higher education.

  2. Guest Speaker - Emin Batman: Emin Batman, an interdisciplinary artist and TU Delft alumnus, delivered a guest lecture based on his project "In Between Tompouce and Baklava." His work, which explores the experiences of first-generation Turkish migrant workers in Europe, resonated with attendees, highlighting themes of identity and cultural interconnectivity.

  3. Networking Lunch: The networking lunch was a highlight for many, offering delicious food and the chance to form new friendships and support networks.
